Askrigg Farm Cottages
Moor Road, Askrigg DL8 3HH

Nanny End Cottage and Kirk Close are two cottages of similar size, close together in the delightful Wensleydale village of Askrigg. Each cottage sleeps six. If both are booked, they make a very civilised solution for a large group of up to twelve people, or two families wanting to get together yet enjoy some private time.

The facilities of the cottages are very similar: each is centrally heated, and has three bedrooms, to sleep six and a baby. The lounges have open fires, and a colour TV with free-sat and a VCR. The kitchens are fully fitted, with microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and automatic washing machine.

To appreciate the small differences between the cottages, visit the owners' website - link below - which has more detail. In short, they're both really well fitted out, and they're both lovely.

Once known for clock-making, hand-knitting and even bull-baiting, Askrigg has a more recent claim to fame as the location for the television series All Creatures Great and Small. As a base for seeing the Yorkshire Dales, it's perfect: small enough to have a real village feel, but large enough to offer three pubs and a lovely café - so if you don't want to cook, you've got plenty of dining choices just a short walk away.

Askrigg is also handy for the buzzing little towns of Hawes, at the top end of the dale, and Leyburn the other way. So if you fancy a day off from riverside rambles and breezy moor-top hikes, a little dose of market-town therapy is never far away.

Whatever your holiday preferences, welcome to these self catering cottages in the landscape of small stone villages.
Whether you book Nanny End or Kirk Close - or both - you'll have a great stay in Herriot Country.
