Sleeping just two people, Bridge Cottage is a luxurious self-catering cottage in the tiny village of Thwaite, at the upper end of Swaledale. All around are wild-flower meadows and waterfalls, the famous Swaledale scenery of dry-stone walls and field-barns, and the sounds of curlews and sheep.
The king-size double bedroom is upstairs. An adjoining bathroom features a double-ended bath and separate shower. Downstairs you'll find a cosy living/dining room with good selection of books and a wood-burning stove - not necessary in view of the central heating, but a lovely feature. A satellite TV, DVD player and wi-fi are provided. There's a smart modern kitchen, with all the equipment you're likely to need. The washing machine may be appreciated by keen walkers who've had a hard day's hiking on the moors. A car-parking space is at the back of the cottage. There are tea shops/cafés in Thwaite and nearby Muker. Also in Muker - a pleasant one-mile walk over fields - is the Farmer's Arms pub, known for its good food and micro-brewery. And if you fancy going further afield for your refreshment, by car or bike, then the famous Buttertubs Pass is just up the road, leading to the market town of Hawes, with a wide range of cafés and restaurants, and the Wensleydale Creamery of Wallace and Gromit fame. All these things to do and see... Or you may just prefer to sit in front of Bridge Cottage and watch the world go by. Website: thwaitedalecottages.co.uk Telephone: 01748 886182 |
