Built in the 17th century as a coaching inn, the Fountain Hotel is still at the centre of the busy market town of Hawes, and is still catering for travellers and visitors today. For over 31 years the hotel has been owned by the McCarthy family, with Angus and Mandy and their daughter Kim working in all areas of the business.
If you're arriving by car, park in our private car park at the back of the hotel. We have 11 comfortable rooms, each with an en-suite shower or bath. Flat-screen TVs, hair-dryers, tea- and coffee-making materials and a mini-fridge are all standard, and wireless super-fast broadband is available throughout the hotel. A traditional English breakfast is included in the price of your accommodation. Wholesome, home-cooked meals are served in the lively bar area, along with a large selection of beers (many of them locally brewed), wines and other drinks. Hawes hums with activity, as visitors and farming families mingle in the cobbled streets. On Tuesdays, the market comes to town; sheep, cattle and horses are sold at the Auction Mart, and a street market sells clothes, fresh produce and a fascinating mix of stuff. Join in the action or sit on our terrace and enjoy it from a distance! Hawes is also home to the Wensleydale Creamery (known to Wallace and Gromit fans) and the Dales Countryside Museum, which has a fascinating collection of materials about life in the upper Dales. Just a short drive away you'll find Ribblehead Viaduct, the White Scar Caves, Bolton Castle, the Black Sheep and Theakston brewery visitor centres, and any number of other attractions. You'll never be stuck for things to do when you stay at the Fountain. The McCarthy family look forward to greeting you! Website: fountainhawes.co.uk Telephone: 01969 667206 |
