Now this sounds a hoot - just the thing to fill an empty evening! It's a stage adaptation of one of Terry Pratchett's hilarious Discworld novels. Monstrous Regiment promises to be bawdy, rambunctious and full of fun. Polly Perks has to enlist in the army. That means having to wear uniform, learning to and fart and belch, and developing an alliance with a vampire - not to mention finding her lost brother while avoiding the enemy... All this merriment takes place in the little chocolate-box venue that is Richmond's famous Georgian Theatre Royal, the oldest working theatre in Britain. Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society invites you along for a roller-coaster ride! Performances are at 19:30, from 24 July to 2 August. Adult tickets are £13-16, and are available at the box office (10:00-16:00, Mon-Sat) or online at georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk.

There'll be a special market in Richmond on Yorkshire Day. Details are still coming in, but there should be a wide variety of stalls, plus other events round town - including Yorkshire Pudding races in the Market Place! More detils as they come in... There'll also be a Richmond Information Centre stall, so pop along and find out what we do, see what guides and booklets we publish. Maybe one of our volunteers will even convince you to join our friendly team! We'll update this post when we can. The B6271 road between Richmond and Brompton-on-Swale will be closed from 21st July to 15th Aug. This will affect drivers heading for the A1M southbound from Richmond on Maison Dieu (photo), as well as some drivers coming into Richmond. Alternative routes via Scotch Corner or Catterick Garrison will be signposted, and will add a few miles to your journey. |
Welcome to Richmond Information Centre's website, the best source of information on this wonderful town. Take a look round! Archives
