Christmas Fair and Market - Sunday 1 December

On Sunday, our Market Place will be awash with brightly lit market stalls, run by independent and local traders, offering (deep breath...):

Arts and crafts, local beers, breads, books, cakes, cards, cheese, decorations, Christmas trees and wreaths, cosmetics, crystals, deli treats, flowers, fruit and veg, games, handbags, handmade chocolates, health foods... Phew. And we haven't even got to the letter "i" yet. Lots of stuff!

You'll fine more stalls in the Market Hall. And then, in the Town Hall you'll find Santa (and even more stalls). There'll be musicians, both strolling round the town and on stage, as well as a treasure hunt featuring eight huge parrots, who'll help you win free tickets to the Georgian Theatre Royal's famous pantomime. Oh yes they maybe will!

It sounds irresistible.

The Fair and Market kick off at 10:00 on Sunday and end at 16:00. (Santa will take a mince-pie break at midday, and finish at 15:30 - it's an exhausting job.) And there'll be a Park-and-Ride bus service (wheelchair-accessible) from Richmond School car park on Darlington Road to the Friary Gardens, 09:30 - 16:30.The Market Place will be closed to traffic 06:00 - 18:00, for a very good cause.
