Shoulder of Mutton Inn
Kirby Hill, near Richmond DL11 7JH

A traditional 18th century country inn, perched high above rolling farmland, just four miles from Richmond.

Kirby Hill is a tiny and historic hamlet, with a gaggle of ancient houses surrounding a peaceful village green. The historian Nikolaus Pevsner described it as "a perfect village". And of course no village can ever be perfect without a good pub!

The Shoulder of Mutton offers home-cooked, traditional meals in its cosy bar and restaurant, and a selection of well kept beers.

The inn has six comfortable, centrally-heated en-suite rooms, including a family room. There is also a Superior Suite, with a private entrance and its own lounge area.

Despite its quietness, the Shoulder of Mutton is only a couple of miles from Scotch Corner, so well placed for anyone breaking the journey to or from Scotland. It is also an ideal base for tourists planning to visit the historic towns of Richmond, Barnard Castle or Durham. Even the Lake District is in easy reach.

Matthew, Kirsty and their staff look forward to welcoming you to the Shoulder of Mutton.
