This terrace of three stone cottages has an extraordinary history: the owners built it, in a field between Reeth and the River Swale, with their "own four hands". Since then they have also planted and nurtured the lovely garden. The cottages are nearly identical, so we'll describe just one.
Ample parking welcomes you. The entrance porch will be handy if you come back one day with muddy boots. A well equipped kitchen is often described by guests as "better than ours at home!". The sunny south-facing lounge has an open fire - nice for winter visitors - as well as Free-sat TV, a DVD player, radio, wi-fi, and books. Doors open out onto a private patio - lovely for summer dining. Upstairs is a bright king-size bedroom, with views out onto Harkerside Moor. A twin bedroom looks north to Fremington Edge. The bathroom has a bath with electric shower over, and bags of hot water. Even regular visitors to Reeth say, "We never knew you were here!" The reason is that the cottages are tucked away on the edge of the village, down a short snicket, or alleyway. The contrast is with the bustle of Reeth Green is amazing: here you have two private acres to roam, with 180 yards of private river bank, and large ponds. This is an oasis of calm in a busy village. The owners, the Hodgson family, pride themselves on offering a friendly welcome, advice if requested, privacy if not. Please note that Wraycroft is a quiet, pet-free, no-smoking site. Children are welcome if over the age of 10. If those conditions are fine by you, the Hodgsons look forward to welcoming you to their little paradise.
