The 2021 Richmond Walking and Book Festival is now open for business! The long established festival runs this year from 18 to 26 September. It's a happy mix of two types of event. 25 walks offer historically themed pootles around Richmond town, heroic yomps across the northern Dales, and a heady mix of in-between rambles for walkers of all standards and interests. On the other hand, there are nearly 20 talks and readings by popular, famous and up-and-coming authors and poets, including 'Spiderwoman' Baroness Hale and Poet Laureate Simon Armitage. You can find the programme and buy tickets online at booksandboots.org. Or, if you prefer to browse and buy in person, and maybe pick up a few useful maps at the same time, you can drop in to the Festival Box Office at Richmond Information Centre, in the Market Hall. Psst! Here's a little preparatory reading! Richmond Walks: four popular circular routes from Richmond - our best-selling guidebook. Pootling round Richmond and Swaledale: eight circular routes, four starting from Richmond, four in the lovely stretch of Swaledale between Richmond and Reeth. Both contain detailed descriptions, helpful maps and plenty of colour photos. Full details and ordering at our online SHOP.
