The Festival kicks off on Saturday 25 May, with a rich blend of music, walks, talks, poetry and art, in villages and towns from the top end of Swaledale to the bottom end of Wensleydale! Here's what's on in Richmond over the next few weeks.
  • Tuesday 28 May, 19:30, St Mary's. The Revolutionary Drawing Room, an outstanding period string quartet, plays works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Puccini  and a new piece, Euphonia.
  • Monday 3 June, 19:30, St Mary's. The Brodsky Quartet, one of the greatest names in British chamber music ((photo above), returns to Richmond with guest musicians and a programme of superb string quintets and sextets.
  • Tuesday 4 June, 16:00, Georgian Theatre Royal. An Exquisite Harmony tells the moving story of music's greatest love-triangle, through the letters, diaries and music of Robert and Clara Schumann and the young Johannes Brahms.
  • Wednesday 5 June, 12:00, Georgian Theatre Royal. The Jazz of Dudley Moore, performed by the Chris Ingham Trio. Not everyone knows that the much-loved comedian was also a dazzling jazz pianist and composer.
  • Thursday 6 June, 19:30, St Mary's. Emma Johnson's Orchestra of the Environment. The great clarinettist leads her ensemble in an evening which will include works by Puccini, Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky, as well as her own new work, Tree of Life, inspired by the climate emergency.

Tickets and information are at www.swalefest.org.
