'twas the week before Christmas...

...and most of the attractions in Richmond are closed, or open only at weekends. But not the Green Howards Museum, which is still open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 16.30, until 18 December. Two fascinating exhibitions will be on view - Treasures in Store and Christmas with the Troops - as well as the Museum's permanent exhibition of matters military. 

The Museum Shop will remain open til 23 December.

The Museum itself will re-open on Tuesday 1 February with a brand new exhibition, Man of Mystery: the lives of John Purvis. Teacher, soldier, archivist, artist (see accompanying sketch) and reluctant war poet, this extraordinary Yorkshireman was interested in just about everything.
